Reviewed By: Beverley Ann (Clairvoyant Medium at www.beverleyann.ca) Heralded as the next big deal in the Hay House ledger of self-help and spiritual gurus, Colette Baron-Reid is an inspiring woman. Her spiritual path was set off by an unspeakable physical tragedy that no woman should ever endure. From great suffering, Baron-Reid has sprung from the flames like the Phoenix she is. In fact, Baron-Reid has a great Mediterranean energy about her, as her dark features and mysterious aura seem to herald back to an ancient priestess who has passed through many life-cycles. Colette Baron-Reid an ‘intuitive counselor' as she calls herself, has already released a book titled Remembering The Future, but Messages From Spirit is her first venture into explaining a type of spiritual process. I find this dangerous territory as all people receive messages in different packages and forms, what one medium experiences can be different to another. I found Messages From Spirit unnecessarily overly complex. Citing the ‘27 universal unfoldments,' for example, is perhaps too eccentric. Spirituality is a commodity to a certain extent for many authors, and so one-up-manship can run itself ragged. The ‘27 unfoldments' reminds me a little of this, as many authors speaking about spirituality are desperately searching ways to separate themselves from the pack, the theories and explanations can become a little sideshow at times. North Americans have a saying ‘Keep It Simple,' and I would tend to agree, most people are starting their spiritual journey's and the advanced ones are reading the likes of ancient texts and not books about identifying messages and omens. I do believe Colette Baron-Reid is an exceptionally talented and intelligent author, who does write beautifully, but sometimes it appears she falls back on unrelated subject matter and comments about how far people have to book in advance for readings (which does mean little, as I have managed to find a way to fit the needs of my schedule and a respectable time frame for those being read). Baron-Reid will find her greatest gift to her readers when she gets passed the hurdles of showing how she shines uniquely from the rest of the Hay House spiritual offerings. |

Made In Where?
By: Kindah Mardam Bey (Ontario Correspondent - Canada) Recently, the question of where exactly my clothing is made has come to my attention. That little equal sign symbol on the back of Coldplay lead singer Chris Martin's hand represents Fair Trade. Which ultimately means that wealthier countries do not bleed third world countries for cheap labour. Seriously, it's a big problem, and while my brief encounter with awareness hit me in the early 1990s with Nike, and then with the outrageous brush with humiliation Kathy Lee Gifford was subjected to (wasn't everyone else doing the same as KLG?), I had little experience with the subject matter. Then the idea of Fair Trade slid slowly into my psyche, and when your High School school-bag toting cousin is more savvy on the subject then you, it's time to strip off and read the damn labels...Read More |
