‘The Angel Lady' as Doreen Virtue is known as, debuted her talents in fiction as her first novel called Solomon's Angels is penned and recently released at the start of 2008. The idea of Virtue writing a fictional story piqued my interest. I find her non-fiction books and Oracle cards very constructive tools in my readings.

The product description provided by Hay House about the novel states:

"King Solomon knew how to harness universal energies to build his temple, tap into wisdom, and

enjoy all of life's riches. The only thing he was missing was true love. Makeda, the Queen of Sheba, was young and filled with exuberant curiosity about the world. On her journey to meet King Solomon, Makeda learned about the Jinn elemental realm and how to work with the sun and moon's magical light, but she still wasn't sure how to take charge of her own life.

In Solomon's Angels, Doreen Virtue's first novel, which is based on thoroughly researched historical, biblical, archaeological, and culturally accurate information, you'll see how Solomon and Makeda's meeting changed both of their lives forever. You'll peek over the Queen of Sheba's shoulder and discover the ancient secrets behind how Solomon's temple was built without hammers and saws, and the role that the archangels and sacred geometry played in manifestation and divine magic. Solomon and Makeda's magically romantic story will inspire you in many ways . . . long after you've finished reading it!

I did enjoy this book immensely, I found it a little too cute at times, but on the overall Virtue poses some interesting questions through the characters. I found this book was indeed incredibly well researched which both added and detracted from the story at times. We can gain the essence of a scene from evoking a feeling or poignant descriptives sometimes more than an itemizing of all the aspects that relate to the five "W's." Mostly, however, the blending together of fact and fiction was seamless in a delightful way.

The themes of life and death, of afterlife, love and connecting with a divine otherworldliness were prominent in Solomon's Angels. I found this book to be exceptionally well researched and Doreen Virtue is a wonderful writer, but perhaps at times it felt like Virtue had spent so much time on the details of the facts that the details of the plotline remained too straight forward and not intricate enough. I do believe that if you are a fan of Doreen Virtue this will be a pleasant addition to your bookcase.
