Fly On the Wall – PG. Mature Theme 1 star Reviewed By: Emily Axelson An undercover couple has guests, and is trying not to blow their cover. A Fly on the Wall is told from a fly’s point of view, witnessing both sides. The undercover side and the real side. At first, I thought the idea of A Fly on the Wall was clever, but when the movie began, the bad direction covered the clever idea completely. The filming was good considering it was trying to look like a fly flying around, but after a few minutes, I began to feel motion sickness. So after seven minutes, I was feeling VERY motion sick. Hays must have learned filmmaking from the school of The Blair Witch Project. Also, I never really caught on to the fact that the couple was undercover. For one thing, you couldn’t hear what they were saying over the buzzing, and you couldn’t see if it was the guest or the hosts that were speaking, since the fly was moving around so much. And it wasn’t like you weren’t supposed to know until the end, like a twist kind of thing, because the end wasn’t all that clear either. You saw what happened, but you couldn’t really tell by who, or why. Maybe that was the point, but that’s a very sloppy planned twist if it was. I recommend this film for anyone who enjoys feeling motion sick and hearing buzzing for seven minutes; I’m sure you are a part of a huge demographic. |
