Genie's 2008 - Canadian Film Awards

Canadian Film was honoured at the 28^th annual Genie Awards. The event was of new Canadian talent, Canadian legends of the industry and a couple of humanitarians. Foremost, the evening was to congratulate all the filmmakers on a job well-done and having a film, of any description, be produced into physical presence.

In its seventh year, the British Short Screenplay Competition (BSSC) is now open for entries. As film-producer and director, Stephen Woolley has said, "Without a great script you're nowhere, this is the backbone of a film and I think we ignore and misrepresent how important screenwriters are."

Nelson Mandela turns 90!

Hyde Park in London (England) was host to the 46664 AIDS/HIV charity event to both celebrate the heroes birthday, and promote awareness of his charity named after the number he was gave for his 27 year socially unjust prison sentence on Robin Island (South Africa). July 18th welcomed the `big stars`from Will Smith (who hosted), to attendees Oprah, and Uma (Thurman) the event had `Birthday Bash`wrote all over it. The performers list was endless, such as Annie Lennox, and Josh Groban who both gave delightful tributes to Mandela`s legacy.
