March 7th 2008 The Banff World Television Festival announced that the Telefilm Canada Content Creators Fellowship Program at BANFF will launch at the 29th edition of the Banff World Television Festival, which takes place at the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel in Alberta, Canada, June 8 - 11, 2008. Call for entry deadline is April 10, 2008. For more information and to download an application visit (http://www.banff2008.com/telefilmfellowship.php). The Telefilm Canada Content Creators Fellowship Program at BANFF is aimed at new and emerging multi-platform content creators who wish to develop their knowledge, increase their contacts and have the opportunity to meet some of the most important international players in the digital and television content business in a facilitated environment. The Fellowship includes free registration for BANFF and nextMEDIA 2008, as well as a travel stipend and pre-arranged accommodation. "We are delighted to be working with the Banff World Television Festival on the first ever Telefilm Canada Content Creators Fellowship Program," says Earl Hong Tai, Telefilm Canada's Director of the Western Region. "This initiative demonstrates a firm commitment to developing emerging content creators and helping them to connect with industry leaders." The purpose of this program is to provide successful applicants the opportunity to meet in small group settings with leaders in the fields of creating, selling and marketing multi-platform content. By providing direct access to key executives, the opportunities provided will help to break down the barriers that new entrants have in terms of getting access to the key industry decision makers who can help them turn their ideas into successful projects. The winners will be selected by a Jury consisting of three jurors. Mark Greenspan, Director of Digital Media for Achilles Media will sit on the jury as will one representative from the Banff Television Festival Foundation, and an industry representative. "We are thrilled to partner with Telefilm Canada in creating unique and relevant training programs for the next generation of industry leaders," says Jennifer Harkness, Executive Director BANFF. "Creating these kinds of opportunities for Canadian talent continues to be a key objective for this Festival." The Banff World Television Festival is a not-for-profit event produced by Achilles Media Ltd., an international events management company serving the television and digital media industries. Achilles Media Ltd. events include: History Makers: International Summit of History & Current Affairs Producers, nextMEDIA events, Canadian Innovation Exchange (CIX) and NATPE Mobile++.
