filmmaking legacy took the 2008 Hot Docs festival by storm this year in Toronto...
The National Film Board Of Canada, with it breadth and depth of filmmaking legacy took the 2008 Hot Docs festival by storm this year in Toronto. Hot Docs is a Canadian film festival focused on the film-form of documentaries, with an international appeal. The Documentaries weren't only hot from the NFB offerings this year, but they were also diverse in subject matter, strong in content and a two time winner for Junior (Best Canadian Feature Documentary) and FLicKeR (Special Jury Prize Canadian Documentary). A ‘n E Vibe was pleased to see all the NFB films sent to Hot Docs this year, as many were world premieres expressing a deep reflection on current world concerns. All the films can be found at the NFB: www.nfb.ca. Documentaries don't usually have widespread theatre releases, so it is up to each individual to seek out these dynamic and interesting films that hold a magnifying glass up to the world in which we live: Junior - Why hockey is an obsession with Canadian youth....

The Chronicles Of Narnia: Prince Caspian 1951-2008
I can only think of one person when I think of this epic series that ignited my imagination as a child, that I saw versions of in theatre productions, that I saw on the BBC, and now on the big screen - My Auntie. It was her own love of the story that she passed onto me; perhaps just the way C.S. Lewis intended his story of Narnia to be shared...like a legend passed down to each generation. |
