Two Hours Traffic Little Jabs Bumstead Records (www.bumstead.com) 4 Stars Reviewed By: Christopher Williams
Originally listening to Two Hours Traffic, not the drive out of a city, but more the band from Prince Edward Island, Canada I was pleased to hear a somewhat rock and pop infused musicology reminiscent of the early 90s. As the first three songs rolled by I began to feel uninspired as the songs sounded similar and unmemorable. But, I was struck with pleasure at hearing the tongue-in-cheek quasi-ballad ‘Heroes Of The Sidewalk,’ oddly, after that the songs all got good, really, really good. From Jezebel onward was a collection of songs that had a richer and more poetic balance to them that had an upbeat appeal, romanticism and melancholia that made you want to dance a little and reflect a little more. Simply put, Two Hours Traffic has never been so deliciously fun!A sophomore album can be a test of commitment for many artists, but when a second collection hits the radio waves it can show a maturing of a groups sound, needless to say, it appears that Little Jabs, whih is Two Hours Traffic’s second has made a great first impression on many new listeners. Little Jabs has a Counting Crows feel to it and Two Hours Traffic has a wide appeal with their upbeat collection. I suspect Little Jabs will get some big recognition. London (England) was host to the 46664 AIDS/HIV charity event to both celebrate
the heroes birthday, and promote awareness of his charity named after the
number he was gave for his 27 year socially unjust prison sentence on Robin
Island (South Africa). July 18th welcomed the `big stars`from Will Smith (who
hosted), to attendees Oprah, and Uma (Thurman) the event had `Birthday
Bash`wrote all over it. The performers list was endless, such as Annie Lennox,
and Josh Groban who both gave delightful tributes to Mandela`s legacy.
