Daniel Otsuka New World Music 4 Stars Reviewer: Kindah Mardam Bey
Reiki Healing Touch by Daniel Otsuka was an exceptionally hard CD to review, for the simple fact that every time I would put the twelve track collection on I would be induced into a state of calm and sleep! In which case, I recommend this CD highly for the process of Reiki or simply meditation. You can sample the Reiki soundtrack from the Mind Body and Soul Series at New World Music (www.newworldmusic.com) and you will be encouraged by the gentle and paced sounds that collectively make a track, but not necessarily a song per say. The CD sounds as if it would be a soundtrack to a walk through an exotic garden with pagodas, magnolia and bonsai trees and the hint of perfume in the air; so too would Introducing Healing Reiki Touch be a part of that experience. Aside from this gentle and relaxing CD aimed to assist with the process of Reiki, a pleasant addition to the collection is a handy booklet full of information about the beginnings of Reiki, an explanation of what Reiki is and even a great visual devise showing how to do the hand positions of Reiki on the body; the whole booklet is the inspiration of Reiki Master Christopher Wilson. The booklet is very much the `introducing` part of the title, but the music can be a welcome addition to any level of Reiki, or energy healing, hypnosis or meditation process! One of the more delightful parts of Yoga for me is the `repose` before and after a session of stretches. You lay on the floor looking up and mentally asses your body from toes to head. The repose is a type of meditation and a very peaceful part of the yoga process. Introducing Reiki Healing Touch with its wind instruments, gentle guitar pieces and hint of chimes would be a great addition to a Yoga session, so teachers and students alike could pick this up for some nice `repose` time. I found this collection to be multi-purposed and multi-faceted, I continually found myself slipping it into my CD player for one purpose or another….even for nights when I couldn`t sleep well!

Made In Where?
By: Kindah Mardam Bey (Ontario Correspondent - Canada) Recently, the question of where exactly my clothing is made has come to my attention. That little equal sign symbol on the back of Coldplay lead singer Chris Martin's hand represents Fair Trade. Which ultimately means that wealthier countries do not bleed third world countries for cheap labour. Seriously, it's a big problem, and while my brief encounter with awareness hit me in the early 1990s with Nike, and then with the outrageous brush with humiliation Kathy Lee Gifford was subjected to (wasn't everyone else doing the same as KLG?), I had little experience with the subject matter. Then the idea of Fair Trade slid slowly into my psyche, and when your High School school-bag toting cousin is more savvy on the subject then you, it's time to strip off and read the damn labels...Read More |
