While listening to the fourth and self-titled album of 3 Doors Down, I came to the conclusion that this band is undoubtedly 100% rock and roll. 3 Doors Down formed in 1998, in Escatawpa, Mississippi. The band was signed to Universal Records soon after the success of their song "Kryptonite," and has since sold well over 13 million albums in the United States alone. The success of the band has allowed its members to tour and perform with recognized artists such as Lynyrd Skynard, Stained, Nickelback, Alter Bridge, Breaking Benjamin, Seether, Shinedown and Daughtry. The band is also extremely busy performing more than 300 concerts a year.

The band's newest album has a wide-ranged variety of songs that cater to all sorts of listening moods. The lyrics are incredible, and the songs are sung with a great deal of passion and emotion; each song tells a specific story, and listeners will believe it! It has songs for everyone, too: Women will enjoy the slower songs on the album such as "Your Arms Feel Like Home," and "Let Me Be Myself," which truly tugs at the heart-its strong instrumentals and lyrics paint the portrait of a man with a broken heart.

The song "Citizen/Soldier" has already gained some previous awareness through being released as a single in 2007, and it was also shown during the previews at several theatres across the United States. "She Don't Want The World" is the track that stands out the most on this album. There are minimal instrumentals, and this is very effective in creating a gloomy tale. It certainly doesn't sound similar to anything 3 Doors Down has produced thus far, but stemming into more sounds like this should undeniably be in talks for future albums.

The album also offers more energetic, head-banging songs such as the current rock radio station hit "It's Not My Time." The song is a little deceiving at first and sounds a little mellower, but the pace speeds up towards a catchy chorus. It has already reached the number one spot on U.S. Main Rock radio stations, and this single can be an added accomplishment to the other six number one singles the band has produced from the other three albums. Another wonderfully upbeat track is definitely "Train." When I first heard this song, I was reminded by rock and roll superstar Jon Bon Jovi, and this definitely gave the song a pulsating 1980's vibe.

Overall, this album is a great addition to the 3 Doors Down anthology. The band has already proved to the music industry that it is capable of versatility, since the albums contain well-written songs with an extensive collection of different beats. To catch the band live on tour, 3 Doors Down is currently performing across the east coast of the United States. Afterwards, they will take a one-month tour across Europe, and then come back to continue the east coast of America. The Canadian tour commences on the 23rd of August in Calgary. Pre-sale tickets for almost all shows are available on the band's website at www.3doorsdown.com.

FALL RUNWAY TRENDS 2008
Jenny Sung (Toronto Correspondent - Canada)

Now that the summer is coming to an end (I say this as I choke back tears), it's time for a wardrobe haul!  The fall season may be all too short in our wonderful home and native land, but I think it's long enough to at least go out and invest in a pair of leggings or two.

Speaking of leggings...that is one trend that hasn't seemed to fade so quickly, as it made a repeat appearance on the runways this year.  Of course, since they are for fall/winter, ditch the sheers and go for the heavier, more opaque stockings in any variety of colours and textures (but stick to grays, navys, purples, and blacks - this season's palette).  Paired with an ankle boot, your look is halfway complete...read more
