Usually when one buys a CD there is a great chance that there will only be a select few songs that they thoroughly enjoy, and a couple songs that aren’t so great.  With Life in Cartoon Motion by singer Mika, this most definitely wasn’t the case; each track had something completely different from the one before it.  This made me instantly fall in love with Mika’s unique voice, and compelling me to listen to the songs over and over again.

The album starts off with ‘Grace Kelly’, an upbeat jam that immediately establishes a fresh and distinctive vibe.  Number two on the album is ‘Lollipop’, which is a song like no other that you will catch yourself singing for days after.  The CD then goes onto ‘My Interpretation’, ‘Love Today’, and ‘Relax (Take it Easy)’ and then arrives at ‘Any Other World’ a thoughtful ballad that sticks out and reminds us that Mika isn’t just purely a writer of pop songs.  ‘Billy Brown’ is next, followed by ‘Big Girl (You Are Beautiful)’ and ‘Stuck in the Middle’ – a song that is accompanied with a rollicking piano part leaving his audience wondering if Mika has any limits.  The album then ends with ‘Happy Ending/Over my Shoulder’ and ‘Ring Ring’.

With his gymnastic vocals and amusing lyrics Mika proves that he is an all around entertainer and singer, and I feel as though he has the potential to become a legend (give him time!). Something that I cannot wait for is to see him in concert – I suspect that would certainly be an experience to remember.

Nelson Mandela turns 90!
Hyde Park in London (England) was host to the 46664 AIDS/HIV charity event to both celebrate the heroes birthday, and  promote awareness of his charity named after the number he was gave for his 27 year socially unjust prison sentence on Robin Island (South Africa). July 18th welcomed the `big stars`from Will Smith (who hosted), to attendees Oprah, and Uma (Thurman) the event had `Birthday Bash`wrote all over it. The performers list was endless, such as Annie Lennox, and Josh Groban who both gave delightful tributes to Mandela`s legacy.
