Review 4 Stars Reviewed by: Amanda Waschuk (Calgary Correspondent - Canada) This Swedish pop singer-songwriter broke onto the North American scene with her first hit single "Show Me Love" and now she's back on a mission to show the world she's still got it. Robyn's new self-titled album brings energy in the form of electro-pop music, fun for an evening with the girlfriends. The listener is introduced to the album with a warning to "turn it the f*ck up" followed by an enticing biographical rap about Robyn. Full of theatrical sounds, these songs scream modern entertainment. We start out with the fun song "Konichiwa Bitches", relating to her independent record label Konichiwa Records, which liberated her from Jive Records and allowed her to grow as an artist. This album features two remixes, one a song of her own and the other a Teddy bears featuring Mad Cobra original. The third song of the album is a remix of "Cobrastyle" which sounds too similar to the original, the only difference being a very female voice taking it to a higher pitch. The remix of Robyn's hit "Handle Me" is a slowed down version but still a great listen. Mostly made up of cool, girl power songs that make you want to get up and dance, as the cd goes on, the tunes get more chill. The final two melodies are a bit more upbeat, keeping you on your toes. This album is a great example of the originality that an artist can bring to the plate when given the freedom to explore sounds and do what works for them. Suggested download: "Handle Me"

Nelson Mandela turns 90!
Hyde Park in
London (England) was host to the 46664 AIDS/HIV charity event to both celebrate
the heroes birthday, and promote awareness of his charity named after the
number he was gave for his 27 year socially unjust prison sentence on Robin
Island (South Africa). July 18th welcomed the `big stars`from Will Smith (who
hosted), to attendees Oprah, and Uma (Thurman) the event had `Birthday
Bash`wrote all over it. The performers list was endless, such as Annie Lennox,
and Josh Groban who both gave delightful tributes to Mandela`s legacy.
