illScarlett is a little bit punk and a little bit reggae, but 100% a good time. The Junos brought illScarlett to Calgary where they handed Michael Buble the fan choice award, accepted their own Juno nomination and attended the Juno Fanfare where they were lovely enough to give AnEVibe the following interview....

IllScarlett Interview with:John Doherty (Bass) and Will Marr (guitar)
Interviewed by: Amanda Waschuk
Date:
April 5, 2008

illScarlett is a little bit punk and a little bit reggae, but 100% a good time.  Based out of Mississauga, Ontario, this quartet released their first major label record titled "All Day With It" in the summer of 2007.  This album produced the hit song "Nothing Special" and illScarlett found success in the Canadian music industry.  They went on tour to satisfy the hungry appetites of fans and their success led to their Juno nomination for "Best New Group".  And this nomination brought them to Calgary where they attended the Juno Fanfare and were lovely enough to give AnEVibe the following interview....

AnEVibe (Amanda Waschuk): Where does your inspiration come from?
illScarlett:  A lot of pot, a lot of free time.  Boredom, a lot of time in the basement when you're in high school.  Inspiration comes from all different angles: friends, family, and music.

Amanda Waschuk: What artists?
illScarlett: Anything from Wheezer to Nirvana to Foo Fighters.  I like old music and he likes punk rock.

junosfanfare2008_027.jpgAmanda Waschuk:  It's your first big label album and you're nominated for a Juno, how does it feel to be in Calgary this weekend?
illScarlett: Could care less... Just kidding, it's awesome! We're stoked to be here!  It's a big deal, it's the frickin' Junos!

Amanda Waschuk:  Do you think this could change careers, like how it does when people win Oscars?
illScarlett: Definitely, I think it will.  You can put it on your fireplace.

Amanda Waschuk:  Who are you guys excited to see win?
illScarlett: Who am I excited to sleep with?  Haha I want Michael Buble to take it home.  I want to drink scotch with "the boob."

Amanda Waschuk: What changes would you like to see in the world for the betterment of the future?
illScarlett: Stop having babies, the world's overpopulated! Stop eating fast food and stop being fat.  Get rid of George Bush.  I have a problem with a lot of things, do you have an hour?  I have a problem with the entire music industry.  Stop downloading music!

Amanda Waschuk: Is there a difference between the American and Canadian music scene?
illScarlett: I have no idea about the American scene.  We did a couple little one-offs but we could care less about the US.  We'd rather be big over in Europe.  You go to the States and you're in and out.  If you're not Carrie Underwood then don't go there.  Go country or go home!

The Chronicles Of Narnia: Prince Caspian 1951-2008
I can only think of one person when I think of this epic series that ignited my imagination as a child, that I saw versions of in theatre productions, that I saw on the BBC, and now on the big screen - My Auntie. It was her own love of the story that she passed onto me; perhaps just the way C.S. Lewis intended his story of Narnia to be shared...like a legend passed down to  each generation.
